Gill Whelan is the founder and owner of Whelan Wellness Inc., and creator of the Whelan Wellness Virtual Bootcamp program: a holistic approach to Wellness. She works with clients globally to improve their wellness in order to grow into their absolute best selves, and live a purposeful and fulfilling life. She also hosts the podcast titled "For the Well of it", serving up powerful doses of every day inspiration. Gill is on a mission to shift the way we look at wellness, in order to rebuild relationships with food and fitness and help us learn to love our present selves - inside and out. Based on her journey to overcoming her own experiences with restrictive dieting and body image issues, she developed a 4-pillar system that is helping thousands of others globally accomplish the same. Leadership is Gill's middle name, and she does so passionately and unapologetically, and thrives on helping other leaders grow and develop to their full potential. Gill has studied under experts in fitness, health, nutrition, mindset, and overall wellness all over the world. Based on this knowledge, she has spent 11 years as a coach in the fitness industry and 25 years gaining more general coaching experience. Gill holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Memorial University in St. John’s, NL. As a trailblazer in the world of leadership, motivational speaking, online connection and holistic wellness, Gill has been recognized by VOCM, CBC, Rogers TV, CTV news, NTV News, Atlantic Business Magazine, Best Health Magazine and All Newfoundland and Labrador. In both 2021 and 2022 Whelan Wellness won the top platinum level awards in St. John's Community Votes in all categories: Nutrition & Weight Loss, Fitness Centres & Gyms, and Personal Trainer. In 2021 Gill was also recently awarded an Entrepreneur of the Year award through NLOWE, in the category of Momentum.
I started coaching at a local gym around 6 years ago and upon their closure, I continued coaching various clinics with our founded group name Team Torrential. These clinics included: Learn to Run, 5K clinics, Half Marathon, Tely 10, and Cape to Cabot. I started running in 2009 and it has brought so many amazing inspiring people into my life. I am the runner I am today because of the amazing running community I am fortunate enough to have around me! Running has taken me places I would otherwise not have gone. I am every day grateful for the ability to run! I love helping others put one foot in front of the other, stepping out of comfort zones, and crushing their goals.
Living a life of wellness in accordance to my core values embodies everything I want to be as a man, a husband, a father, a business owner, etc. I'm here to make memories and have fun along the way. My goal is to fill my life, and my family's life with experiences and moments, and live the best life we can live.
Every founder has their “why” - and for Gill, this crew is a big part of her why. Meet Pete, Hunter, and Max. Each and every day, Gill strives to show her boys that if you set your mind to something and have true passion for your work, you can create or be anything.
If you have been to a Whelan Wellness tea time, we've likely already met. If you haven't, what are you waiting for! I'm always around for a tea time session - hence why I'm the mascot. Before you ask - I am a Pug Tzu (Pug and Shih Tzu), and I am the cutest member of the Whelan Family (sorry Max).
Arts are my thing. I am a creator at heart, and throughout my life art has manifested in many forms- hairstyling, photography, acrylic painting, watercolour, crafting, making music, even podcasting. But my camera is something that has been with me for a really long time (I spent a lot of money developing film throughout my late teens and early twenties)! In recent years, I rekindled this passion, relearning photography in a digital world. I experienced a life changing photography trip to Costa Rica in 2019 where I adventured and learned with a couple of incredible mentors and I have been very passionate about it ever since. Working with Gill and bringing her passion to life in the form of photographs is something that I am really proud of.
